Château Moulin de Peyronin
… a vineyard that is very integrated into its surroundings.
This week I have chosen to go to meet Frank and Veronique Terral, young owners of the Chateau Moulin de Peyronin, BORDEAUX AOC.
A Property perched on the heights of Pujols, this vineyard is the perfect example of environmental care and integration in a global environment.
Acquired in 2006 by Frank and Veronica, it has become evident that this young and dynamic couple , continue with the organic farming practiced on this vineyard since 1975.
When you arrive to this property (Château Moulin de Peyronin), don’t be surprised if you see sheeps, their function is to mow the lawn and bring the manure. (organic all the way!)
Still with the idea of respect for nature and the land, and contrary to usual practice, the winemaker leaves the land to “rest” five years before replanting a plot.
How Franck sees his job?
As a profession of passion, that require versatility, with different tasks for each day. More importantly, as a business where the key words are “friendly” and “sharing”.
What do you look for every year when you create your wines?
Above all, the wine grape quality do not change after winemaking (vinification).
Easy drinking wines for all occasions. But also wines where you can feel the full expression of the land of the property.
Why did you choose the Organic Farming?
“In nature there is equilibrium, and our business is primarily a farming profession, a profession in which we are totally dependent on nature” … “so it is important to respect our raw material: the land, if you want persist over time. ” Such beautiful words, I totally agree!
Where does the name Peyronin comes from?
Peyronin comes from the Gascon (french regional language) “PEY” which means stone / stone. This name was probably given in reference to the soil of this locality. A loaded ground limestone. 300 years ago, this area served as a quarry.
Some features:
- In Organic Farming
- Property of 20 hectares of which 14 are planted with vines, the remainder of the forest, a garden and an area for
sheep.
- Soil: calcareous clay and silt
- Production: 4 wine (a Bordeaux Red, a Bordeaux White, White Bordeaux vintage “Romane“, a Bordeaux Claret) and organic grape juice.

- Chateau Moulin de Peyronin Bordeaux WHITE: 100% Sémillon

For the anecdote 😉 :
When families visit this property, the children have the opportunity to taste the bio grape juice of the property, while their parents taste the wine. And children have the feeling that they can do as the adults, something that delights them.
A project for this property?
Yes, Frank is working to create in a few years a sweet wine. But it would be a small production for family and friends.
Bon appetit!
Feel free to visit this property.
Thanks to Frank and Veronica for their warm welcome
