Chateau Beaurang
…a family property owned for four generations.
Chateau Beaurang was created by the grandfather of thecurrent owner, Joseph Puyol was a shepherd of the Spanish Pyrenees, he decided to leave his homeland to escape the difficult living conditions of the time. He settled in the Saint-Emilion area, where he established a farm, combining livestock, agriculture and vine.
Through generations, the agriculture and livestock gradually cede their places to the wine activity.
Today Marie-Christine and Claude Puyol, the current owners of the place, work alongside withtheir daughter Delphine Puyol, a young and dynamic winemaker with an unusual background.
She studied in the Faculty of English, and then that was followed by a university course in psychology as well as a job in herearly childhood.
Despite all the experiments, the desire to return to work in family vineyard was stronger than anything else.
What is she exactly looking ?
Delphine is mainly concerned with communication and commercial parts but, wishing to supervise the creation process of the wine, you can also find her in the vineyard or winery.
Besides, I invite you to visit her blog “Delph’In The Wine“.
“Share, talk and have fun with the fruit of her lands” that’s how Delphine lives her passion every day.
Personally, I agree with that! Wine is, in my opinion, a means of socialization since the dawn of time, but also a regional heritage that we must defend and getting it to be known!
Their philosophy? “Reasonable protection”
This is “Let nature take its course while making corrections, if necessary, by targetedtreatments (environmentally friendly products) in the right dosage. No frills, just what is useful “. Consider the property as a whole, as a living environment, and integrated into its natural setting.
For proof, as you stroll on the particular property you can observe insects in nurseries, herons and hawks that nest near the pond located at the ends of rows of vines.
Side project: For now it remainsas a will, but Delphine would work in the upcoming years in a white wine blended with Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon.
The anecdote of the week: Where does the name Chateau Beaurang come from?
Beaurang name, besides being the name of the property, is also the name of this place. It was named like that because in the last century, it was a “must” stop for a drink. Beaurang being a derivative of the word “Beuran”, is itself a derivative of the verb drink in local dialect.
Have a good week!
Thanks to Claude and Delphine Puyol for their hospitality.
