Clos Petite Croix

More than a garden … a property managed like a garden” (Pierre Brunot)

vert-de-vin-clos-petite-croix-lalande-pomerol (19)Clos La Petite Croix is a property created in 1956 by the grandfather of the current master of the place, Pierre Brunot.

Young winemaker double cap trader and grower he bathed from a young age in the world of wine. Spending his vacation in the vineyard (Clos La Petite Croix) of his grandfather to watch winemaking and help him in his work.

vert-de-vin-clos-petite-croix-lalande-pomerol (16)Later he began his working life in the wine trading house of his father. A few years after its successor. At the same time with this activity he began a viti-eno BTS at La Tour Blanche (Sauternes). After placements made in the region of Bordeaux he chose to go to an internship abroad. And more specifically in California working for Vérité Winerie (Region Sonoma, Kendall Jackson Group). In 2010, he returned from his California experience, he ended the tenancy of the property and took the initiative to take over his grandfather. With the aim of making Clos La Petite Croix a famous name on the right coast of the Garonne river. For this he surrounded himself with some of the most prestigious names such as Bordeaux Emmanuel Villegas (recommended from the Château Cheval Blanc and Château La Dominique).

For the anecdote, proud of his grandfather and his viticultural heritage he scored against the tag name “Zério”

Side projects are something that this young winemaker does not lack. In addition to wanting to raise the bet to make this wine garden that Clos La Petite Croix a great name, Pierre Brunot would expand to cultivate an hectare. He also plans to build a winery and aging also offer a tasting room like the American wineries. Property to follow closely in the coming years ….

vert-de-vin-clos-petite-croix-lalande-pomerol (18)Where does the name “Clos La Petite Croix“comes from?

The name comes simply from the fact that the property is near a roundabout on which is a Christian cross. Pierre Brunot preferred to take the word “Clos” rather than Château because even if all the conditions for the “Château” was met he did not want the fact that there is no large and majestic building. As everyone can imagine when it comes to Castle.

My guideline is to make each year better than the previous year. I want the wine Clos La Petite Croix is of high quality. It is synonymous with a perfect balance between alcohol and acidity polyphenols. There is a great concentration of ripe fruit. We need the ground ‘resurface’ in wine, it is marked by its terroir.

I also want my wine like me, i.e. it is unusual and unlike any other and it is distinguished by its high quality.

Eventually, I will wish it to be able to compete with the big or great Pomerol Saint Emilion.

During the recovery of the property by Pierre Brunot and more precisely the approach of the first harvest the door of one of the cement tanks of the property was leaking. The tanks are not all new it was impossible to order a new door. Pierre Brunot therefore approached a mason craftsman to rebuild the tanks with a new door. The only problem is the local artisans are overworked they offered her an intervention late in the year. Due to ten days of harvest and in a spirit of hope last he looked on the website leboncoin.fr. And then a miracle he found on the site exactly the same door but working … Like what you can find everything on leboncoin.fr (without advertising), even doors forty years of age.

Always the anecdote Bérégovoy Pierre was one of the customers of this property.

Thanks to Pierre Brunot for his hospitality.
