This property was created in 1822 by the family Boucard, and it is located close to the village of Benais.
At that time and until 1937, she practiced polyculture. Since 1937 the property is fully devoted to viticulture.
Originally extended over 12 hectares it was enlarged with the pass of the time, including a redemption of some plots in 1985 AOC Saint Nicolas de Bourgueil.
Today, Thierry Boucard, the heir of seven generations of winemakers in the area, has 19 hectares in AOC Bourgueil and 3 hectares in AOC Saint Nicolas de Bourgueil.

Chanteleuserie” is the name of the place called where the property is located. It means “the place where the larks sing.” As you can imagine there are many birds of this species in the field. This is a small animal that you will find on the labels of all vintages.

What does he look for on his profession?

Finally it was no joke when Mr. Thierry Boucard concludes “We gotta believe! We must be optimistic! “.A profession that “must be a passion if you want to produce quality. Thierry Boucard practice “integrated pest management“. That is to say, he works the soil restricting the use of inputs (chemicals) used in the vineyards and organic products. Some wines are fermented in wooden vats with a foot peg during fermentation. Others are traditionally vinified in stainless steel.

Turning to the anecdote

In the early 1980s, actor Gérard Depardieu (French actor) came twice to visit and taste the wines of the property.

Every year in the month of April the Domaine de la Chanteleuserie organizes open days. During these events winemakers from all AOC , such as Sauternes, Champagne, Alsace, Pineau des Charente, Graves, Corbiere … are invited to come and taste their products alongside artisans, artists, etc. ….
