Wine & Food Pairing: What wine to choose to accompany a duck confit?
The duck confit is an emblematic dish from the South West of France. It is a rich, tasty, dense and tender meat. This food comes from a slow and gentle cooking method. In fact this duck meat (thigh) is cooked slowly in the hot duck fat and then put in jars or cans. Thanks to this process the meat does not come into contact with air.
The duck confit can be enjoyed in different ways; in cassoulet, pan-fried with fried potatoes, in Hachis Parmentier, in pie, in Landaise salad or in ravioli.
Below there are some Wine & Food Pairing suggestions to match with ten different duck confit. As usual, I advise you to promote regional pairings. You’ll also have to pay attention to the sauce and sides.
